PICHULIK is not new to the game but they are new to our family when they took up residence in the Upper Bree District earlier this year. The PICHULIK brand was founded by Katherine-Mary Pichulik and was recognised in 2014 as Accessory Designer of the Year by African Fashion International. This was not the first or last time they were in the press over the years.
They have appeared in Italian Vogue, Women Wear’s Daily, Glamour and were also responsible for the Meghan Markle Effect back in 2019 for their Magi and Labyrinth earrings. The Duchess was pictured wearing these sets whilst on tour with Prince Harry on their official royal tour of South Africa.
If you are a Capetonian or lucky enough to visit the Mother City in the future you can find them at 8 Watson Street to find the latest addition to your jewellery collection. PICHULIK is an ethical jewellery, accessories atelier rooted in Africa, and inspired by ancient traditions and cultures around the world.
They describe each piece as “a talisman, handcrafted from unexpected, organic materials into distinctive forms that share the stories of brave women and celebrate empowering feminine narratives.”
Every piece is handmade by a single artist from start to finish. “PICHULIK employs women, collaborates with women, and outsources to local women-owned small businesses, to promote job creation and economic activity in local communities, and champion and augment women’s earning capacity.”
From the minute you step into the store you can see that the PUCHULIK team took great care to create a curated experience for you, from the carefully selected décor to the thoughtful card you receive before you exit the store.
