Urban Lime, FNB, eThekwini's Deputy Mayor and the Denis Hurley Centre refurbish building as an emergency shelter

At a time of crisis Urban Lime, FNB, the EThekwini Municipality Deputy Mayor’s Office and the Denis Hurley Centre came together, to speedily refurbish the Strollers Building as an emergency shelter.

Urban Lime led the execution of the works , FNB focused on finance and through the leadership of Deputy Mayor Belinda Scott and Raymond Perrier of the Denis Hurley Centre , City resources were activated to ensure the 3 storey, 216 bed facility was opened in time for the national lockdown. The building forms part of an effort to support 1,700 homeless across 12 shelters.

Beyond the pandemic, we will work to ensure the building becomes the first Women and Children’s shelter in the city providing homeless and abused women with children a safe, supportive and temporary refuge.
